Young Women, Self-Esteem and the Hoop
While wrapping up the 30/30 Hooping Challenge and planning my move this weekend to the East Bay, I had just enough time to delve into an important family topic for my Hooping.org column….I’d love to hear your feedback!
Embracing the Beginner’s Mind
Embracing the concept of beginner’s mind has been very powerful for me recently. I encourage you to try it! Read more about my experience with beginner’s mind in my column this week on Hooping.org.
Join my Hooping.org 30/30 Hooping Challenge!
I am soooooo excited – I’ve created a hooping challenge with Hooping.org to hoop for 30 minutes every day for 30 days – and at this point, over 150 people have joined the challenge with me – even my fiance is doing it! I could not have hoped for more participation from my community – I’m ecstatic that this has really brought us all together in support of one another’s transformation. We’re starting tomorrow, so head over to my column on Hooping.org today to join me!
Holiday Hooping
As a Southern California native, I have often empathized with hoopers who live in more inclement areas and have to get creative in the colder months when you want to continue your hooping practice. Many of you just don’t have much indoor space for hooping, and when you can’t get outside, it can be tough. I’m feeling a whole new level of empathy for you this winter as I am spending the holiday in East Hampton, NY, and it has been COLD out here!! There’s really no good place to hoop in the house without some serious furniture moving, yet I’ve been desperate to keep up my hooping practice. So the other day, I just had to brave the cold and hoop outside. It was challenging, but well worth it
It was 35 degrees. My fiancé Sammy Bliss headed outside with his hoop and our warmly bundled daughter Anjali. I through on a couple of layers and hooped it up with Sammy, much to Anjali’s delight. I can’t wait to teach her how to hoop when she’s older!
It started snowing in ernest today, after a light sprinkling that melted within minutes a few days ago. There are several inches on the ground, the wind is howling, and another six to twelve inches are expected tonight. So I may just have to move some furniture around afterall….hope you’re finding ways to get in your hoops this holiday season

First video in quite a while…
This is the first video I have posted in over a year and a half! There is nothing new or innovative about my performance, but it’s my first performance since I was 6 months pregnant with my now 16 month old daughter Anjali. So I was really happy just to be out there again, sharing my love of hoopdance with a wonderful audience. A huge thank you to all of my friends, family and hooping community who continue to support my journey!
Thank you to my mother-in-law Robin Pressman for inviting me to perform, and to my dear friend Albert Casselhoff for video taping!
The music is Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy – Xmas Mix by Dopaminex, available on iTunes.
